About

Hello there! Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit my blog. My name is Sheilla (I feel like I’ve said that a million times on here already, whoops!) and I am an 18 year old first year business major. Let me start off by introducing you to my parents:

Yes, it’s an old picture–I’ll need to take a new one of them soon. I don’t think I was even born at the time this picture was taken! Thank god mullets are no longer in style. Ha ha, jk Dad:). Anyways, my parents have never been super health-freaks, but they were never ones to feed my sister and me McDonalds several times a week. As a kid, I never remember worrying about what I ate until I was about 13. I was the tallest girl in my class (I was even taller than most of the boys!) at a whopping 5’5″. For a 13 year old, that’s tall! I also have a large frame, so I just felt like a monster compared to every other girl. So that’s when I started to skip a couple meals. It got so bad that my mom had someone spy on me during lunch to make sure I ate! (I still don’t know who it was…)  I just never felt comfortable in my own skin, and it didn’t help that my sister could eat a horse without gaining an ounce.

That’s her on the right. Some people say we look nothing alike, while others say they can “totally tell” we’re sisters. Hmmm.. Ok, back to my story. So freshman year in high school wasn’t any better. I remember keeping a xanga (does anyone remember that?) to keep track of what I ate, which usually consisted of one whole wheat pita bread a day. My weight fluctuated all throughout high school, depending on my mood (dumb, I know). My grandma (aka Ita) was always the most worried about what I ate. She would always tell me these crazy stories about how stomachs are like inflatable bags–if you don’t put anything in it, it’ll stay small until eventually you won’t be able to eat even if you wanted to. I never believed that, but it was funny to listen to.

That's my beautiful Ita on the right. Again, an old picture.

And yet after all the ups and downs (in both my life and my weight), I’ve had my best friend by side throughout the whole thing, and she’s more than I could ever ask for.

I have a great knack for ruining pictures, as you can see.

So now I am in college, and rather than just focusing on losing weight, I’m focused on being healthy.

Most recent picture of me. Camera phone pictures for the win!

So here is to a new year, new outlook, and new blogs. CHEERS!
